Merry Christmas!
Joseph is going to be a big brother around August 4, 2009. Yes, I’m pregnant!!! This pregnancy is completely different than our first, one because I have a very active toddler running around. And two, because I’m much more tired and sick/nauseated this time. Or, maybe I just don’t remember this from my pregnancy with Joseph.
My mom is joking that God will give Mike a baby girl for his birthday. I think this would be perfect.
If this Sept/Oct was our time for relaxation and enjoying Colorado, this winter is our time of family, travel, and keeping busy!
We kicked off November with a great celebration! Mike’s brother, Brian, married the love of his life, Becca, on November 1st. The wedding was picturesque, the bride was beautiful, and Joseph was screaming (he just wanted to be one of the guys). They were married in a beautiful counrty chapel out side of Leesburg, VA. The fall colors were in full bloom. Not like Colorado fall colors of gold and green, but bright orange and reds and yellows with the bright green grass. It was the perfect day to get married. The weather was perfect!
The reception was a hoot! I had my little boy running around in a cute tux dancing the night away – well past his bedtime. (Yes, believe it or not, I did not keep Joseph to a scheduled bedtime.) Mike was so proud that his boy was able to master all of Daddy’s hard learned dance moves in just 17 months. I got to meet a lot of Mike’s friends from the past that I have heard a lot about. There were a lot of, “remember when” stories to be heard. There was a lot of smiles, a lot of laughing, wonderful food, great wine, and plenty tears of joy. It was a great time.
After the wedding, Mike and his other brother, Joe, went bow hunting for white tale in Pennsylvania with their cousin, Jimmy. This has been something Mike has wanted to do for a very long time. He had a blast.

Aunt Marilyn introduced Joseph to Uncle Joe's train set. Oh my goodness was he in little boy heaven! He sat still for 2 hours saying ‘Choo Choo!”
As if it couldn’t get any better, Grandpops took Joseph to see real life steam trains, in Steam town.

Oh, and it still gets better, Uncle Joe arranged for Joseph (I’m loosing count of Joe’s here) to go to a Pennsyvania coal mine in operation. The owner was great and so was the Frackville Chief of Police who helped Uncle Joe set things up. Joseph, and all the other Joes, and Mike got to climb on, in, around, and over absolutely everything! “TRUCKS!” “Honk Honk!”
Back home in Colorado for time some at MeMaw and Grandpa’s house. We had some good one on one time with them (and a few cousins).
While we were up there, Abby had her 1st surgery. I am impressed with Abby, Peter, Heather, Colton, and the surgeons. Abby is a strong girl (like her daddy). Peter and Heather are amazing parents for staying strong and so loving. And, Colton is a very good big brother that takes very good care of his little sister. Back home in our own beds for a few days and then back “Over the River and through the woods” to Grandmother house we went for a wonderful Thanksgiving Day feast! YUMMY!
Then time to go for a small hike in our spot to find our Christmas tree, decorate, and prepare for Santa Clause to visit.

Germany still waits for us, and it is looking as though Spring will be our time. Mike will be traveling there several times between now and Spring, and hopefully also house hunting and geting Dr's and hospitals mostly figured out. Waiting has been very rough, but like Mike says, we've had 8 weeks off to relax and focus on 'us'. Its been a great break and we have gotten a lot done.
Should the move to Germany prove to delay into my thrid trimester, Mike has already made arrangemtns to stay until after the Wee Baby Begley arrives.

Teddy Truck
We are ready for winter! Fire wood is stacked, chimney is clean, and Joseph loves his Choo-Choo snow boots.
It's beginning to look as though Germany may not happen until the Spring, although we could be asked to leave in the coming weeks (as Mike reminds both himself and me).
It can get frustrating, but Mike has a much shorter commute now and can also work from home. He has also taken 8 weeks off from his graduate program - so we are really taking the time as a gift and enjoying Joseph and Autumn.
As anyone who has met Joseph knows, he LOVES trucks and choo-choo or and combination of the two. Yesterday was our first lesson in loss. Joseph broke his his favorite 18 wheeler matchbox truck. We all had a nice cry at the kitchen trash can, and said 'buh-buh' (bye bye).
Today Daddy surprised Joseph with a brand new BIG truck.

The Little Professor
Joseph recently got glasses. He has a double stigmatism. His right eye is worse than his left eye. The doctor says wearing glasses will help his eye development.
He likes them for about 3 minutes in the morning and then he takes them off until you can distract him again. At times he will go up to 20 minutes with them on. But as soon as Daddy or Mommy point them out or say the “g-word”, off they come. It will be hard to get Joseph used to them, but in time I know he will wear them without issue.
For my birthday I always choose to go on a family hike.

There is a favorite area we like to go. I love it when we feel like we are the only people that exist for miles. You can really hear the sounds of the forest and smell the turning of seasons. We had a great time.
One of my favorite things to eat is cake. So, for my birthday Joseph and Mike ordered a small version of our wedding cake as my birthday cake! At least I got to enjoy a piece of cake on a plate with a fork. Last time I had it shoved in my face. We all enjoyed the cake as it helped us remember our wedding (I think Joseph just enjoyed the sugar high). Oh my goodness it was YUMMY! I love it!
JJ, Peter, and I went to a Broncos game.
Unfortunately the Broncos lost, but we had a great time. It was nice to just hang out with my brothers.
While in Denver Joseph and I got to walk Molly to school a few times. One morning Joseph cried all the way home. We woke everyone up in the neighborhood. Aunt Dana even heard us as we approached the house. The one thing he loved was looking at the big busses. If he can touch a big tire that makes Josephs day! :)
We also went to Emily’s WOW day. This is Emily’s special day at preschool. The last half class her family gets to come and see her at school and bring a special snack. Joseph liked that they had tables and chairs his size. He sat with the school kids and ate snack. He is such a big boy.
Last weekend we went to ‘Boo at the Zoo’. We had a great time.
Our favorite part was seeing and hearing the lion ROAR! He was pacing against the glass and was maybe 5 inches away from Josephs face and let out this HUGE roar. Needless to say Joseph roared the rest of the night and all the way home. It was a sight to see…teeth and all.
To go along with the zoo story,
we have been teaching Joseph all his relatives’ names. As we prepare for Brian and Becca’s wedding we have been working on the Begley side. It’s funny as each time we work on ‘Brian’ Joseph roars like a lion. Joseph will be happy to see Aunt Becca marry Uncle Lion. ROAR!
